Creating a stand alone application server:

During the creation of the profiles you can choose to create a standalone application server by choosing an application s erver profile. This will give an application server with name server1, which you can change at the time of creating profile and a management console to administrate it.
Managed application server
If you have a deployment manager profile created, you can create servers in it which can be managed from this deployment manager admin console. These are called the managed application servers.
